Z16 train is a direct express train running between Jinan, the capital of Shandong province, and Urumqi, the capital of Xinjiang. The train uses a 25T passenger car and runs along the second line of beijing-shanghai railway, Longhai Railway, Lanxin Railway and Lanxin Railway, passing through six provinces and one district of Shandong, Jiangsu, Anhui, Henan, Shaanxi, Gansu and Xinjiang, with a total length of 3,782km.

the predecessor of p>Z15/16 train was the 189/19 train running in Jinan-Urumqi. On June 1st, 1999, the train diagram of China Railway was fine-tuned, and 189/19 trains from Jinan to Urumqi and 192/189 and 19/191 trains from Lianyungang to Korla were added, with the same running lines and running every other day.

on April 1st, 29, with the daily running of trains 1352/1353 and 1354/1351 from Urumqi to Lianyungang East, trains 188/185 and 186/187 will no longer run to Lianyungang every other day.

on August 16th, 211, the 185/186 train was changed to a 25G passenger car.

On July 1st, 214, the 185/186 train was upgraded to an express train, and the train number was changed to K185/186.

on December 9th, 214, the K185/186 train was replaced by a new type of 25T passenger car of China Railway, upgraded to a direct express train, and used the temporary train number Z45/46. Prepare for the opening of Lanzhou-Xinjiang second double line at the end of 214, the change of train number Z45/46 via Lanzhou-Xinjiang second double line and the change of train number Z15/16.

on March 2th, 215, train Z15/16 was diverted to Lanzhou-Xinjiang railway from Jiayuguan to Hami.

on August 1st, 216, train Z15/16 was transferred from Urumqi south station to urumqi railway station, and Urumqi south station was added to handle passenger transportation.
