Nothing special. According to Xi 'an Local Treasure Network, Xi 'an Cheongwadae is located outside Xi 'an Annan Gate, which was built in Zhenguan period of Tang Dynasty and is the villa of Sun Chang Wuji, the prime minister of Tang Dynasty. But Cheongwadae has no special role or political significance. Later, Cheongwadae became a playground and villa for emperors and officials of past dynasties, and also a tourist attraction for ancient literati. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, Cheongwadae was destroyed, and the present building was rebuilt during the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty.
