"Fairy Tale World" Jiuzhaigou
In the Bashu region of southwest China, there is a desperate situation on earth, which is Jiuzhaigou Valley, known as the "Fairy Tale World".
Look at the cascading waterfalls
Look at the colorful green sea
Jiuzhaigou is well-deserved for its reputation as a "fairy tale world".
Jiuzhaigou Valley, located at the southern foot of Minshan Mountain, covers an area of ??720 square kilometers and consists of the bottoms of three ravines: Shuzheng, Rize and Zechawa. Because there are nine Tibetan villages living here, it is named Jiuzhaigou.
In 1992, Jiuzhaigou Valley was included in the World Heritage List because it met the selection criteria of "areas with wonderful natural phenomena or rare natural beauty".
85% of the area here is covered by vegetation, and there are more than 2,500 species of naturally distributed native plants, which can be called the plant kingdom.
Rare animals that are not found elsewhere are active here. Not to mention giant pandas and golden monkeys, many birds that have never been heard of can be found here.
For example, there is a bird called the brown-headed songbird. This kind of bird can only be seen in Jiuzhaigou, and only with good luck. For this reason, British bird expert Grant has been traveling to Jiuzhaigou since 2003.
The UNESCO World Heritage Committee commented on Jiuzhaigou Valley this way:
"Jiuzhaigou Valley is located in the northern part of Sichuan Province and stretches for more than 72,000 hectares. The long and winding Jiuzhaigou Valley is more than 4,800 meters above sea level, thus forming a A series of diverse forest ecosystems. The magnificent scenery is enhanced by a series of narrow cone-shaped karst landforms and spectacular waterfalls. There are about 140 species of birds in the valley, as well as many endangered species of flora and fauna, including Giant Pandas and Sichuan Takin”
“Don’t look at the water when you come back from Jiuzhaigou”
The most wonderful thing about Jiuzhaigou is the water.
This is a natural museum to appreciate the natural beauty of karst water bodies. You can find answers to the various shapes and colors of water here.
The text of the application for World Heritage included the sentence "When returning from Jiuzhaigou, don't look at the water." However, this sentence was criticized as "too arrogant" at the time and had to be cut off. However, Mr. Zhang Shanyun, the author of the application text, firmly refused. He believed that cutting off this sentence would cut off the soul of the text.
Zhang Shanyun’s persistence was not in vain, because it has received the most professional certification. In 1992, the United Nations appointed Dr. Lucas, Chairman of the International Union for Conservation of Nature, and Dr. Sancer, a senior expert, to Jiuzhaigou. When they saw the desperate situation of Jiuzhaigou, they were deeply shocked.
Sanser said that the waterscape of Jiuzhaigou Valley is the most stunning natural beauty he has ever seen.
Lucas later commented that being able to inspect Jiuzhaigou Valley was the highest honor of his life.
From "Sea" to "Haizi", 400 million years of "cultivation"
Jiuzhaigou is dotted with 114 mountain lakes, which are called "Haizi" by the locals. Haizi, large and small, are connected into one among the mountains. It can be called the "King of Waterscapes in the World".
400 million years ago, this was just a shallow sea.
A large amount of calcium material accumulated here and was deposited on the seafloor in the form of carbonate rock. When the oceanic plates moved violently, a plateau mountain covered with thick carbonate rock was born.
In the hundreds of millions of years that followed, the power of natural creations such as crustal movements, glaciers, earthquakes, collapses, landslides, mudslides, flowing water, and karst took turns here.
For nature, all hardships are training.
The landslide formed a barrier lake, travertine built a dam, the vegetation on both sides gradually became denser, and waterfalls, beach streams, and lakes gradually appeared, forming the unique and beautiful landscape of Jiuzhaigou today.
Protecting our "fairy tale world"
Facing this precious world natural heritage, what humans should do, besides appreciating it, is to quietly protect it.
Scientific researchers come here regularly to monitor and observe, and use scientific methods to provide support for the ecological sustainability of Jiuzhaigou;
The team of patrolling and forestry teams are here day after day. Traveling through the mountains and forests, monitoring traces of animals and plants;
In order to develop and protect the ecology here, the residents of Jiuzhaigou Scenic Area closed all the inns in the scenic area and restored vegetation coverage...
Jiuzhaigou Scenic Area Green waters and green mountains are irreplaceable wealth bestowed by nature on all mankind. They belong to China and the world. To protect Jiuzhaigou is to protect our "fairy tale world" and to protect the heritage of mankind.
