Xiayi began to develop edible fungi production in 2000 and initially achieved scale, regionalization and industrialization. It has now become the largest edible fungi production base in eastern Henan and the largest Agaricus bisporus production base in Henan Province. The county has formed a production pattern in which Agaricus bisporus and Straw mushroom are the main products, while Shiitake mushroom, Coprinus comatus, Pleurotus eryngii, Pleurotus ostreatus and other mushrooms are also developed.
In order to ensure the pollution-free production of edible fungi, the county has established an edible fungus technical service center and an agricultural monitoring center to cover all aspects of bacterial cultivation, raw material configuration, input use, processing and storage, and sales management. , establish a set of standardized technical processes. 4 county-level agricultural product monitoring centers have been built, 15 Agaricus bisporus base rapid testing points, 14 pollution-free product markets, and 3 edible fungus demonstration parks have been established. At present, the county has 20 towns, 300 specialized villages, and 20,000 farmers engaged in the production of various types of edible fungi. It has developed more than 19,000 standardized mushroom houses for Agaricus bisporus and straw mushroom, covering an area of ??9.5 million square meters, with an annual output of 200,000 tons. Xiayi County has been rated as "Henan Province Edible Fungi Production Base County" and "Henan Province Edible Fungus Production Advanced County" by the Henan Provincial Department of Agriculture; and by the China Edible Fungi Association as "National Excellent Demonstration County for the Construction of New Small Mushroom Rural Areas".
With the expansion of the production base, an industrialized management model of "cooperative organization-leading enterprise-base-farmer" has been formed. Among the three leading enterprises, Xiayi County Zhongzhou Edible Fungus Development Company was selected by the provincial government It is designated as one of the 56 key leading enterprises in agricultural industrialization in the province. The county has developed 12 series and more than 20 varieties of edible fungi products, and registered the "Chengyang" brand trademark. In 2008, the County Edible Fungi Industry Association registered the trademark "Kong Zuyan" for the county's edible fungi, taking a solid step towards the brand development of edible fungi.
The edible fungi industry has driven the development of product packaging, transportation, catering, and service industries. There are more than 20,000 people engaged in the secondary and tertiary industries around edible fungi in the county, and the annual service income reaches more than 40 million yuan.
