What is the earliest Simmons?

Some people refer to "Simmons" as a spring bed. In fact, this statement is not accurate. "Simmons" is actually the general name for spring mattresses.

More than 100 years ago, there was a businessman in the United States named Zalmon Simmons. He is very shrewd and good at business. In 1870, Simmons woven iron wire into a mattress. After hard work, he finally created the world's first spring mattress in 1900.

In 1919, Simmons felt that manual operation was too slow and the quality could not be guaranteed, so he asked John Gary, known as the "genius machinist", to design a machine for producing spring cushions. Three years later, this machine came out.

In this way, spring mattresses were created one by one. Later, the official trademark of these mattresses used the boss's last name-Simmons.

The spread of this kind of mattress in our country can be traced back to the 1930s. At that time, an American businessman opened a "Simmons Bed Factory" near Tilanqiao, Shanghai, specializing in the production and operation of spring structure mattresses. People called the mattresses produced by this factory "Simmons mattresses."

As time went by, people simply omitted the word "mattress" and passed down the word "Simmons". Since then, people have used Simmons as a synonym for spring mattresses.
