Very dangerous
Shennongjia is located in Hubei Province in central-eastern China. This heritage site consists of two parts: Shennongding/Badong in the west and Laojun Mountain in the east. It has the largest virgin forest in central China and is the habitat of many rare animals such as the Chinese giant salamander, Sichuan golden monkey, clouded leopard, golden leopard, and Asia black bear. Shennongjia in Hubei Province is one of China's three major biodiversity centers. It was the destination for international plant collection expeditions in the 19th and 20th centuries and occupies an important position in the history of botanical research.
In ancient times, the Shennongjia forest area was still a vast ocean. After the Yanshan and Himalayan movements, it gradually became a multi-level land, and formed strata with distinctive local characteristics such as the Shennongjia Group and the Manger Garden Group. Shennongjia is located on the eastern edge of my country's second terrain ladder. It consists of the eastern extension of the Daba Mountains and forms a mid-alpine landform. The mountains in the area are tall and gradually decrease from southwest to northeast. The average altitude of Shennongjia is 1,700 meters. Most of the peaks are above 1,500 meters, including 6 peaks above 3,000 meters above sea level, and more than 20 peaks above 2,500 meters above sea level. The highest peak, Shennongding, is 3,105.4 meters above sea level, making it the highest peak in Central China. Therefore, Shennongjia is known as the "Roof of Central China" . The Shizhu River in the southwest is only 398 meters above sea level, the lowest point in the territory, with a relative height difference of 2708.2 meters.
Shennongjia is the watershed between the Yangtze River and the Han River. There are four water systems in the territory: Xiangxi River, Yandu River, Nan River and Duhe River. Because this area is located in the mid-latitude north subtropical monsoon zone, the temperature is cooler and rainier. The seasons differ by 3-4 days for every 100 meters of altitude increase. Due to the alternating influence of the hot and humid southeast monsoon and the dry and cold continental high pressure throughout the year, as well as the regulation of heat and precipitation by the alpine forests, a pleasant climate is formed without extreme heat in summer and severe cold in winter. While southern cities generally experience high temperatures in summer, Shennongjia is a cool world. Shennongjia is located in the mid-latitude north subtropical monsoon zone. Affected by the altitude, the temperature is cooler and rainier. As the altitude increases, it forms three climate zones: low mountain, mid-mountain, and sub-alpine.
The annual precipitation also ranges from low to high, ranging from 761.4 to 2500 mm, so the three-dimensional climate is very obvious, "midsummer at the foot of the mountain and spring at the top of the mountain, brilliant autumn at the foot of the mountain, ice on the top of the mountain, red, orange, yellow and green, not enough, spring "Summer, autumn and winter are the most difficult to distinguish" is a true portrayal of the climate in the forest area. It has the only well-preserved subtropical forest ecosystem in the mid-latitude inland region of the northern hemisphere in the world today. The forest coverage rate within the territory is 88%, and the protected area reaches 96%. A large number of precious ancient relic plants such as Davidia involucrata, Liriodendron tulipifera, and Lianyang incense are preserved here. Shennongjia has become a green treasure land at the same latitude in the world and is of global significance to forest ecology research. Shennongjia has many magical geological wonders. There is a tidal river in Honghua Township. The river surges three times a day, with high tides in the morning, noon and evening, each lasting half an hour. At high tide, the color of the water varies with the seasons; in the dry season, the water color is turbid, but in the rainy season, the water color is clear.
