EPDM is a terpolymer of ethylene, propylene and unconjugated diene, which has been commercialized in 1963. The most important feature is its superior oxidation resistance, ozone resistance and erosion resistance.
As EPDM belongs to polyolefin (PA66) hydrocarbon family, it has excellent vulcanization characteristics. Among all rubbers, EPDM has the lowest proportion. It can absorb a lot of filler and oil without affecting its characteristics. Therefore, a low-cost rubber mixture can be produced.
Main applications
EPDM has a wide range of uses, mainly used in housing construction, wire and cable, automobile industry and other fields.
In building construction, it is mainly used for roofing single-layer waterproofing membrane. In terms of wires and cables, they are mainly used for input wires of civil and commercial buildings, construction wires, mining cables, nuclear power plant wires, ignition wires for automobiles, control and signal cables, etc.
In the automobile industry, it is mainly used for tire and non-tire parts of automobiles, trucks and buses, including water tanks and heating hoses, sealing strips, rubber belts, parts of body and chassis, rain strips, bottom plates and annular pipes.
