Ruzhou is the capital of Ru porcelain and the hometown of opera; it is a city under the direct administration of Henan Province. Located in the central and western part of Henan Province, it is bordered by the towering Song Mountain to the north, the vast Funiu to the south, the ancient capital Luoyang to the west, the Huanghuai Plain to the east, and the Beiru River running through the entire territory from west to east. The total area is 1,573 square kilometers and the total population is 1.056 million (at the end of 2011).
