Hami melon has a long history of planting in Linhe District, and thick-skinned melon has been planted for more than 80 years. At the end of 1980s, Yellow River honey and wax gourd were introduced for trial planting in Bayi Township, and good economic benefits were achieved. In the early 1990s, after repeated discussions by well-known melon experts in China, agricultural science and technology personnel visited Xinjiang and thought that Xinjiang honeydew melons were more suitable for natural conditions near rivers. 1994 introduced varieties such as Golden Queen, Zaohuangmi, Huangzuixian and 86 series for trial planting. The results showed that their yield and commodity rate were much higher than those of the main varieties at that time, and Xinjiang Hami melon was rapidly popularized in Bayannaoer City.
1998, Linhe District registered the real estate honeydew melon as "Hetao Brand" in the State Trademark Office. Hetao honeydew melon combines the flavors of pear, apple, peach and banana, with unique flavor, soft and sweet, fresh and tender meat, sweet and pleasant, and the sugar content is above 16%. More than 30 varieties have been formed in five series: Western Region, Empress, 86,065,438+0, Early Yellow Rice and Jinlong.
