The story of the first meeting between the Cowherd and the Weaver Girl is as follows:

On a sunny summer day, the Cowherd is industrious in farming. After a hard day's work, he came to the lake to take a bath. In the Woods by the lake, there are seven fairies in the sky. They are taking a bath happily. The Weaver Girl, one of the fairies, found the Cowherd. She saw that Cowherd was kind and simple, and didn't mean any harm to the gauze clothes she took, so she decided to get to know him. The cowherd returned the gauze clothes, and the two sat by the lake and talked. The Weaver Girl was moved by Cowherd's sincerity and hard work, and had a good impression on him.

The Weaver Girl told the Cowherd that she was the daughter of the Emperor of Heaven, and she came down to earth for fun. Cowherd also told Weaver about his life experience, which made Weaver more sympathetic to him. The two had a good talk at the lake and their feelings quickly warmed up. However, this relationship has not been supported by the parents of the Weaver Girl, because the Cowherd is only a mortal. However, the Weaver Girl firmly chose love and secretly lived with the Cowherd. Their love moved heaven and earth, and finally, the Emperor of Heaven allowed them to meet at the Magpie Bridge on July 7th every year.

Follow-up legend

The descendants of the Cowherd inherited the property around Lushan Mountain, and adhered to filial piety. Every year, they arranged more than ten festivals, such as Laba, Spring Festival, February 8th, Cauliflower Festival, March 3rd and Tanabata, and invited Cowherd and Weaver Girl back to the village for holidays. The Lufeng Mountain next to Sunyi Village, the Cowherd Cave on Lufeng Mountain, the Nine Girls Pool on the west side and the Ruiyun View on the top of the mountain all seem to tell the moving story of the Cowherd and the Weaver Girl.

The natural environment around Lufeng Mountain is superior, and the local people have raised yellow cattle since ancient times. However, unlike cattle raising in other places, Sunyi Village in Xinji Township not only raises cattle in every household, but the custom of raising cattle without killing them and burying them after death has been going on for a long time. In addition, Lushan has been rich in silk since ancient times, and Lushan silk is also known as "Weaver Girl Weaver" and "Fairy Weaver".
