Will the credit card be automatically cancelled when it expires?
1. For inactive credit cards, if they are not activated within the validity period, the bank will not replace them with new cards. On the contrary, this credit card will be automatically cancelled, and the cardholder does not need to apply again. In order to prevent information leakage, cardholders are advised to shred expired credit cards.
2. For the activated credit card, if the card status is normal and meets the relevant conditions, the bank will mail the new card to the cardholder's billing address one month before the expiration. If the cardholder does not intend to continue to use the credit card, it is recommended to apply to the bank for not renewing the card immediately after receiving the card replacement notice due from the bank, so that the bank will not issue a new card.
In addition, once the cardholder receives a new credit card, the validity period will be restarted without activation. Even within the validity period, the credit card will not be automatically cancelled. If the cardholder does not want to continue to use the card, he/she needs to apply to the bank for account cancellation after paying off the debt, and ensure that there is no debt or balance in the credit card during the pre-cancellation period.
