What does a credit card authorization transaction mean?

1. Credit card pre-authorization refers to a transaction in which the card issuer or its agency confirms the permission to freeze the amount before the special merchant debits the money. The pre-authorization will occupy the card's credit limit and will be canceled when the customer settles the pre-authorization. If the customer does not make settlement within 30 days of the pre-authorization, the pre-authorization will be cancelled.

2. Pre-authorized transactions are used by the acceptor to grant transaction permission to the cardholder from the card issuer. The acceptor puts the estimated consumption amount into the transaction response and sends it to the card issuer. The amount is sent to the cardholder (the card issuer) as a pre-authorized amount. After approval, the card issuer will put the authorization number and other information into the transaction response and send it to the acceptor.

3. Pre-authorized transactions only control the cardholder’s available monthly limit. Funds settlement is completed by pre-authorization. An approved pre-authorized transaction is valid for a limited time only.

4. Pre-authorization transactions are divided into POS pre-authorization, POS pre-authorization addition, POS pre-authorization completion, POS pre-authorization revocation, and POS pre-authorization completion and revocation.
