: Specific procedures for tax refund
1. Go to the airport tax refund customs office on the day you leave Thailand.
Tourists cannot get a tax refund immediately when they spend money in most stores marked "Tourist VAT Refund", but as long as the cumulative consumption exceeds 5,000 baht, they can keep the receipt and go through the procedures at the airport tax refund customs office when they return home. The specific steps are as follows:
1) When you arrive at the airport, go to the airline to register, and first take all your luggage to the tax refund customs.
2) After entering the tax refund customs office, take out the valuables purchased locally. It’s best to keep them within easy reach of your luggage. It's also easy to find customs officials if they ask for inspection. In fact, they usually don't check them.
3) After customs officers inspect and stamp the luggage, the prerequisite preparations for tax refund are completed, and then the boarding pass and customs clearance procedures are processed normally.
4) After completing the customs clearance procedures, you can go to the tax refund counter and submit the stamped documents, tax refund application form, and passport to the counter for inspection. Tax refunds can be made directly on the spot, and a handling fee of 100 baht per person will be deducted.
5) If the tax refund amount is less than 30,000 baht, you can get cash back immediately; if it exceeds, you can pay with a credit card or bank cashier's check.
