How to write a foreign currency credit card account
My notebook has been in good condition for five years. Recently, I got a credit card, and my account became a mess.

I have two accounting ideas. 1 Classification by flow direction 2 Classification by ownership. I will say that it is very troublesome to record foreign currency credit card consumption according to the flow direction, because there are three income and expenditure processes in one consumption, so I have come up with a new method of classification according to ownership, regardless of the income and expenditure process. Details are as follows:

1 Classification according to the flow direction of funds (not recommended)

There are only two kinds of flow directions of funds, namely, income and expenditure.

In actual bookkeeping, I will find that the process of some accounts is very complicated, and my biggest headache is recording foreign currency credit card bills.

I personally want to explain the foreign currency credit card bill clearly, and I can skip the ones that are not interested (the middle part of the dotted line).

-----------. However, the consumption process should be recorded)

According to the exchange rate of visa to Rand against the US dollar at that time, the bookkeeping result is

expenditure 1÷14=$.71, and income R1

A few days later, according to the exchange rate of RMB against the US dollar, a bill of RMB against the US dollar is generated, and the bookkeeping result is

this expenditure is $.71×6.6=¥4.71. The credit card prompts that the bill amount is $4.71, so it pays back $4.71 (really spent money)

It seems that there is no problem, but the key point is that the real money spent is RMB, and the goods priced in Rand are bought

This is a problem caused by simplifying the credit card process. As an occasional obsessive-compulsive disorder patient, it must be explained that

the final expenditure of RMB is not to buy goods, but

RMB to buy dollars. The flashback of three trading processes of Rand's purchase of goods

---------------------------------. It is very troublesome to keep the accounts clear with foreign currency credit cards.

2 classified according to the difference of ownership (five-year bookkeeping experience, created by Jeffery Eou)

The ownership of funds is temporarily defined as two types: ownership and non-ownership

Ownership funds are self-earned, such as wages, rent received, bonuses, etc., and the main attribute is security

Non-ownership funds are borrowed money, such as cashing in credit cards, which is not owned by me, but only. In the following, I use the non-ownership funds to express it, which is more in line with my thinking habit.

Therefore, the fund account ① ownership ② borrowing right managed by my account book

Assuming that my credit card limit is RMB 5,, for the convenience of spending rand for bookkeeping, setting ② borrowing right account has two sub-accounts, one for RMB balance of RMB 2,, and the other for Rand balance of RMB 3,× 2.12 = r636

The account set will have a fixed currency. Therefore, it is necessary to set

control the sum of all sub-accounts to be equal to the total amount of credit cards

With such an account setting method, I will simulate the consumption process of foreign currency credit cards again

A commodity with a unit price of 1 rand (South African currency, unit: R) is consumed with a Visa credit card, and the bookkeeping result is

② The expenditure R1

The ownership has not changed during the beginning and the middle process

. To ② the RMB sub-account of the borrowing right

at this point, a general liquidation is conducted

the ownership funds are reduced by ¥4.71

the total amount of the borrowing right funds remains unchanged (it may change due to the exchange rate, but it is basically unchanged)

The change of the total amount of the borrowing right funds account after repayment can just intuitively explain how much the foreign currency card exchange rate loss is!

kill two birds with one stone!

I often use Visio because of my work, but I am more accustomed to using (Baidu Brain Map) to draw concept maps to clear my mind.

I am currently working in South Africa and will return to China soon. I look forward to good job opportunities! Part-time job is ok!
