Take China Merchants Bank as an example: According to Article 14 of the Credit Card Charter of China Merchants Bank (Ninth Edition),
Cardholders can use their cards abroad (including Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, the same below) with the acceptance marks of UnionPay, Visa, MasterCard, JCB, American Express or other bank cards, or special merchants with the acceptance marks of UnionPay in China and other special merchants designated by card issuers;
There are three differences between a credit card and a UnionPay card:
1. Their essence is different:
(1) The essence of a credit card: a credit card is a credit certificate issued by a commercial bank or a credit card company to a qualified consumer.
(2) the essence of unionpay card: unionpay card refers to a bank card that meets the requirements of unified business norms and technical standards and is printed with the word "unionpay" at a designated position.
2. The characteristics of the two are different:
(1) The characteristics of a credit card: it has both payment and credit functions. Cardholders can use it to buy goods or enjoy services, and they can also obtain certain loans from card issuers by using credit cards. It is a high-tech product integrating financial business and computer technology. Can reduce the use of cash currency. Can provide settlement services, facilitate shopping and consumption, and enhance the sense of security. Can simplify the collection procedures and save social labor; It can promote commodity sales and stimulate social demand.
(2) features of unionpay card: first, the red, blue and green "unionpay" logo is printed on the lower right side of the front of the card. Second, there is a holographic laser pattern above the "UnionPay" logo on the credit card. Third, the signature strip on the back of the credit card is printed with the words "UnionPay" in color, and the handwriting written on it cannot be smeared.
On October 18th, 25, UnionPay changed its logo, with the parallel arrangement of red, blue and green bank cards as the background, which set off the white "UnionPay" English and "UnionPay" Chinese modeling. Compared with the old logo, the new logo of UnionPay mainly adds the English word "UnionPay", and fine-tunes the area and inclination of the three-color block.
3. The meaning of the two is different:
(1) The meaning of the credit card: Compared with the ordinary bank savings card, the most convenient way to use the credit card is to make ordinary consumption without cash in the card. In many cases, it is enough to return the amount of consumption on time.
you can overdraw your consumption without deposit, and you can enjoy an interest-free period of 2-56 days. You can repay the money on time without any interest (most banks will charge .5% interest on the day of cash withdrawal, and there is a 2% handling fee, while ICBC will charge no handling fee and only interest).
(2) the significance of unionpay card: issuing unionpay standard cards and creating national bank card brands are conducive to safeguarding the security of national financial information, maintaining the right to speak of domestic member institutions in the development of China's bank card industry, mastering the independent power to formulate standards and norms in the process of industrial development, and safeguarding the long-term interests of domestic member institutions and the interests of cardholders.
