Manganese is widely distributed in nature, and almost all ores and silicate rocks contain manganese. The most common manganese ores are anhydrous and hydrated manganese oxide and manganese carbonate. At present, there are 150 kinds of manganese ores, but the manganese content is the highest, and only 5-6 kinds of manganese ores can be enriched in large quantities to form economic value, among which pyrolusite and pyrolusite are the most important and most valuable, as well as hydromanganese, brown manganese, manganese manganese ore and rhodochrosite. The content of manganese in these minerals can reach about 50 ~ 70%, which is an important industrial mineral of manganese.
Manganese is abundant in many minerals in nature, but only a small part of it is really valuable and can be mined as manganese ore. It is mainly pyrolusite, followed by hard manganese ore and swamp manganese ore, and others are hydromanganese ore. Both brown manganese ore and hausmannite are mixed minerals, and rhodochrosite usually exists in siderite.
The main producing areas are mostly located in South China, such as Wuxuan, Guiping, Fangcheng and Qinxian in Guangxi. Yongzhou, Xiangtan, Changning, Yueyang and Changsha in Hunan; Guangdong Meixian, Huiyang, Taishan and so on. ; Zunyi and Weining, Guizhou; Yunnan Pingluo, Xundian, Dongchuan and Jiangxi Leping. India, the main foreign producing area, ranks first, along with North America, Russia, South Africa, Australia and Gabon.
