Recently, the tenth five-year plan for forestry development in Hubei Province was officially announced. Plan and clarify the forestry development objectives, spatial layout, main tasks, key projects and safeguard measures in the next five years.

According to the plan, the forest coverage rate in the province reached 42.5%, the forest stock reached 490 million cubic meters, the wetland protection rate reached 55%, and the total output value of forestry industry reached 550 billion yuan, realizing "ecological beauty, industrial prosperity and people's wealth".

According to the plan, during the Tenth Five-Year Plan period, Hubei forestry will follow the "four screens and one system" proposed by the provincial party committee, namely "four forest ecological barriers: Wuling Mountain in southwest Hubei, Qinba Mountain in northwest Hubei, Dabie Mountain in northeast Hubei, Mufu Mountain in southeast Hubei and wetland ecosystem in central Hubei", optimize the spatial layout of development, maintain biodiversity and biological safety, and build an ecological security pattern of "three rivers, four screens, a thousand lakes and one leveling".

In the next five years, Hubei Province will promote the implementation of four major forestry ecological projects, such as Yangtze River, Hanjiang River, Qingjiang River, ecological corridor of plain lake area, forest city construction, rural greening, protection and restoration of important ecosystems, protection of wetland resources, protection of nature reserves and wildlife, and improvement of forest quality, so as to continuously improve the quality and stability of ecosystems.

According to the plan, Hubei Province will adhere to green development, benefit the people ecologically, give full play to the advantages of forestry resources, consolidate and expand the achievements of ecological poverty alleviation and effectively link with rural revitalization, develop advantageous green industries, cultivate new industries and new formats, promote forestry carbon sequestration, and provide high-quality green ecological products. The institutional framework for realizing the value of forestry ecological products was initially formed, a more scientific accounting system for the value of forestry ecological products was initially established, and the ability to transform ecological advantages into economic advantages was significantly enhanced.

During the "Fourteenth Five-Year Plan" period, Hubei Province will fully implement the forest length system, speed up the construction of a nature reserve system with national parks as the main body, and further promote the red line system of ecological protection. At the same time, strengthen organizational leadership, strengthen responsibility assessment, guide the participation of the whole people, and ensure the realization of the objectives and tasks proposed in the plan.
