Xiaoyu: As far as I know, "2 1 1" colleges generally have projects of the National Scholarship Fund Committee.

Cong Cong: Basically, all college students can participate in this program, but the places in different schools are different. For example, Tsinghua Peking University has 150 students, while other universities such as Nanjing University and Xiamen University have 100 students, and some schools only have a few places. Compared with some first-class universities, many domestic schools with few places often run out of places for joint training because of their popularity. There is a forum called "Little Wood Bug", where many students who are jointly trained publish their own school situation. I remember a classmate from the University of Mining and Technology said that there were only five places in their school, so the school paid more attention to it and specially asked teachers to make up English for these five admitted students. Other schools are neglected because of too many people.

As for majors, there are no restrictions. According to the project description, "all majors and fields specified in the national medium-and long-term scientific and technological development plan, such as energy, resources, environment, agriculture, manufacturing, information and other key fields, strategic fields such as life, space, ocean, nanotechnology and new materials, and humanities and applied social sciences" have been quite broad.

Xiaoyu: You can go abroad to experience life, study and research, broaden your horizons and enrich your experience. Joint training can give students the opportunity to go abroad for training, feel the atmosphere and environment, and provide broader ideas.

Cong Cong: To put it bluntly, it means learning some experimental techniques, discovering some new ideas, and seeing what others abroad think and do. This project may not be beneficial to everyone, because if the platform of domestic laboratories is already very good, I personally don't think it is necessary to go abroad to delay a precious year.

Education expert: What qualifications do students need to participate in joint training?

Xiaoyu: Foreign language scores (such as TOEFL) and the recommendation of the tutor were accepted by the other school. Of course, it is also necessary to have a certain level of comprehensive results, which will be selected by the Scholarship Fund Committee.

Xiaoyu: Every country in the world has a huge group of Chinese, so there is no problem of being isolated or rejected by foreigners. Some projects need to raise some funds by themselves, because the support of the national study abroad fund is not enough to support local life and study. In addition, to adapt to the rhythm of foreign countries and integrate into the local life and laboratory culture, you need to do some preliminary understanding before going abroad.

Cong Cong: It mainly depends on other tutors. It will be very hard for science and engineering to do experiments, because they may be experimenters; Liberal arts is better. Of course, it also has something to do with the school atmosphere and tutors.

Xiaoyu: This is a good opportunity to study abroad. For those students who want to go abroad for further study after graduation, it is an opportunity to adapt and understand in advance. Perhaps by participating in joint training, I will pave the way for applying for going abroad in the future. If you don't plan to go abroad, you can also add some bright colors to your experience. However, we must master a solid foreign language foundation and listening and speaking skills, get a deep understanding of the schools and projects that can be applied for in advance, and make preparations early.

Cong Cong: Get in touch early. If you can get in touch with your tutor, it will be better, because it will be more relevant to your own topic and your level should be higher than your own. Tsinghua's Department of Environment and School of Public Administration have achieved very good results this year. Colleges and tutors have contacted the first-class laboratories or units in this field. All the above are personal feelings, not everyone is the same, and the specific situation varies from person to person.

There is another point that I think is also very important. Some students contacted many tutors at the same time. Some tutors were willing to accept it, and he himself agreed, but there were better schools or tutors who were willing to accept it. Then he rejected his former mentor with a random letter, without even saying hello, and never contacted anyone else again. This is quite a case. I hope that for the sake of more students in the future, I still don't do this.
