Through regular academic exchanges within the research group, progress exchanges at different project stages, etc. We will create a good academic atmosphere for students, encourage them to actively unite and cooperate, and stimulate their enthusiasm for exploration and innovation. Because students have mastered better experimental skills and scientific research methods in China research groups, they can quickly integrate into the good scientific research environment and order of foreign laboratories during their study abroad. (B) Joint training of domestic universities
Joint training is also an important way for exchanges and cooperation between domestic universities. The joint training of domestic universities has solved many practical problems and made full use of teachers, students, teaching equipment and resources between universities. With this backing, colleges and universities can undertake some big and difficult projects, and students will have the opportunity to participate in the projects, cultivate the habit of independent thinking and innovative thinking, and enhance their ability to collect and process information, acquire knowledge, analyze and solve problems. By participating in more projects and practicing more, the scientific research level of graduate students has been improved, and at the same time, their abilities in all aspects have been exercised.
The second is the joint training of universities and research institutes.
The joint training of graduate students by universities and research institutes refers to a mode in which universities and research institutes cooperate to provide a soft (teachers, information, etc.). ) and hard (laboratory, living facilities, etc. ) graduate training environment, and * * * in accordance with the requirements of the training plan to train graduate students together.
At present, there are two main forms: first, the school accepts the personnel selected by the enterprise and trains graduate students for the enterprise. The second is the graduate students recruited by the school. After completing the course, they go to the research institute to complete their thesis, and then return to the school to defend their thesis. The common feature of these two joint training methods is that the training plan is mainly formulated unilaterally by the school.
Institutions of higher learning and scientific research institutes set up training consortia in this discipline to unify proposition, enrollment, training and teaching, and have consistent guiding opinions; Research institutes exercise the right of admission relatively independently, and the admitted graduate students obtain the status of college students. This can make full use of the human resources of both sides, improve the utilization rate of educational resources and promote the development of discipline construction.
In principle, the course stage of joint training of graduate students is attended in colleges and universities that jointly declare degree points. According to the needs of the training program, with the consent of both parties, colleges and universities can hire graduate tutors or other engineering and technical personnel from the joint applicant to offer certain courses to ensure the teaching quality of graduate courses recruited by the joint point. If colleges and universities and research institutes are merged in different places, according to the actual situation of research institutes, with the consent of colleges and universities, graduate students jointly trained by research institutes and universities can study some courses in colleges and universities where research institutes are located, and colleges and universities recognize the achievements of these courses and record them according to the credits stipulated in the training plan. The mode of postgraduate training can be the tutor responsibility system or the mode of joint training of one tutor and two tutors. Tutors of both parties may set up a relatively independent dissertation steering group and employ members of the postgraduate steering group.
Thesis work, certificate issuance, project report, mid-term examination, pre-defense, defense, degree awarding, etc. of joint training graduate students shall be handled in accordance with the relevant documents of the State Council Academic Degrees Committee and institutions of higher learning. Thesis defense is generally conducted in the unit where the tutor works, and relevant tutors and experts from both sides are invited to participate in the application. This model is somewhat similar to the joint training model of universities and research institutes. The specific operation method is: after the graduate students enter the school, the subject point will discuss with the enterprise to arrange school tutors and enterprise tutors. The school tutor is responsible for making the training plan, and fully consulting with the enterprise tutor to select the topic of the dissertation for the graduate students. According to the training plan, graduate students complete the course study, document retrieval and make the opening report in the first academic year, enter the enterprise to carry out research in the second academic year, and return to school to participate in the defense after completing the thesis as required.

In order to understand the true face of joint training, we interviewed two students from Tsinghua University. Xiaoyu will participate in the joint training project between Tsinghua University and foreign universities, and Congcong will participate in the joint training project of the National Scholarship Fund Committee. Tsinghua University has actively carried out international cooperation and exchanges for many years, signed cooperation and exchange agreements with many world-renowned universities, and carried out international training of students through joint training and other forms. Xiaoyu: As far as I know, "2 1 1" colleges generally have projects of the National Scholarship Fund Committee.
Cong Cong: Basically, all college students can participate in this program, but the places in different schools are different. For example, Tsinghua Peking University has 150 students, while other universities such as Nanjing University and Xiamen University have 100 students, and some schools only have a few places. Compared with some first-class universities, many domestic schools with few places often run out of places for joint training because of their popularity. There is a forum called "Little Wood Bug", where many students who are jointly trained publish their own school situation. I remember a classmate from the University of Mining and Technology said that there were only five places in their school, so the school paid more attention to it and specially asked teachers to make up English for these five admitted students. Other schools are neglected because of too many people.
As for majors, there are no restrictions. According to the project description, "all majors and fields specified in the national medium-and long-term scientific and technological development plan, such as energy, resources, environment, agriculture, manufacturing, information and other key fields, strategic fields such as life, space, ocean, nanotechnology and new materials, and humanities and applied social sciences" have been quite broad.
Education expert: Why do you want to participate in joint training? What do you think joint training will bring to graduate students, or what advantages do you have?
Xiaoyu: You can go abroad to experience life, study and research, broaden your horizons and enrich your experience. Joint training can give students the opportunity to go abroad for training, feel the atmosphere and environment, and provide broader ideas.
Cong Cong: To put it bluntly, it means learning some experimental techniques, discovering some new ideas, and seeing what others abroad think and do. This project may not be beneficial to everyone, because if the platform of domestic laboratories is already very good, I personally don't think it is necessary to go abroad to delay a precious year.
Education expert: What qualifications do students need to participate in joint training?
Xiaoyu: Foreign language scores (such as TOEFL) and the recommendation of the tutor were accepted by the other school. Of course, it is also necessary to have a certain level of comprehensive results, which will be selected by the Scholarship Fund Committee.

Education expert: From the information you have obtained, what is life like after going abroad?
Xiaoyu: Every country in the world has a huge group of Chinese, so there is no problem of being isolated or rejected by foreigners. Some projects need to raise some funds by themselves, because the support of the national study abroad fund is not enough to support local life and study. In addition, to adapt to the rhythm of foreign countries and integrate into the local life and laboratory culture, you need to do some preliminary understanding before going abroad.
Cong Cong: It mainly depends on other tutors. It will be very hard for science and engineering to do experiments, because they may be experimenters; Liberal arts is better. Of course, it also has something to do with the school atmosphere and tutors.
Education expert: Can you give some advice to students who want to participate in joint training programs in the future?
Xiaoyu: This is a good opportunity to study abroad. For those students who want to go abroad for further study after graduation, it is an opportunity to adapt and understand in advance. Perhaps by participating in joint training, I will pave the way for applying for going abroad in the future. If you don't plan to go abroad, you can also add some bright colors to your experience. However, we must master a solid foreign language foundation and listening and speaking skills, get a deep understanding of the schools and projects that can be applied for in advance, and make preparations early.
Cong Cong: Get in touch early. If you can get in touch with your tutor, it will be better, because it will be more relevant to your own topic and your level should be higher than your own. Tsinghua's Department of Environment and School of Public Administration have achieved very good results this year. Colleges and tutors have contacted the first-class laboratories or units in this field. This year, almost 65,438+00 students from the School of Public Administration entered the Kennedy School of Government of Harvard University through this program. All the above are personal feelings, not everyone is the same, and the specific situation varies from person to person.
There is another point that I think is also very important. Some students contacted many tutors at the same time. Some tutors were willing to accept it, and he himself agreed, but there were better schools or tutors who were willing to accept it. Then he rejected his former mentor with a random letter, without even saying hello, and never contacted anyone else again. This is quite a case. I hope that for the sake of more students in the future, I still don't do this.
