Yunnan cooperatives began with the establishment of Kunming Qunyi Consumer Cooperative in 1927.
In 1938, the old government established a cooperative enterprise management agency.
The Yunnan Supply and Marketing Cooperative was founded in the early 1950s and has gradually grown since then.
During this period, it merged with state-owned commerce during the Great Leap Forward, the Cultural Revolution and in 1983.
System reform began after the Third Plenary Session of the Eleventh Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, and Yunnan Supply and Marketing Cooperative entered a new period of development.
In March 1950, the Kunming Municipal Military Control Commission took over the old government's "Yunnan Provincial Cooperative Enterprise Management Office" and its properties.
In May, the 'Yunnan Provincial Cooperative Preparatory Office' was established, focusing on rectifying and establishing cooperatives in consumption, handicrafts, automobile transportation, etc. in Kunming.
On December 11, in accordance with the spirit of the first cooperative work conference in Southwest China, the "Instructions on the Organization of Key Rural Cooperatives" were issued, and pilot supply and marketing cooperatives began to be established in rural areas of Guandu District, Yiliang, Yuxi, Qujing and other counties in Kunming.
On December 20, the Provincial People's Government notified that the Provincial Cooperative Preparatory Office was changed to Kunming Municipal Cooperative Cooperative and was placed under the leadership of the Kunming Municipal Government.
In March 1951, with the consent of the Provincial People's Government, the Provincial People's Government Cooperation Guidance Office was established to be responsible for the development of cooperative undertakings in the province.
In October 1952, the Provincial Cooperative Guidance Office was abolished and the Yunnan Provincial Cooperative Federation Preparatory Committee was established.
In July 1954, the first cooperative member representative conference in the province was held to formally establish the Yunnan Provincial Cooperative Federation, and elected a board of directors (19 people) and a board of supervisors (9 people).
In November, in accordance with the principle of urban-rural division of labor among state-owned commercial and supply and marketing cooperatives and the instructions of the All-China Federation of Supply and Marketing Cooperatives, the Yunnan Provincial Cooperative Federation was renamed the Yunnan Provincial Supply and Marketing Cooperative.
The main task is to serve the production and life of rural members and at the same time carry out socialist transformation of rural private businesses.
From August 1958 to July 1961, the Provincial Supply and Marketing Cooperative merged with the Department of Commerce and the Department of Service to form the Yunnan Provincial Department of Commerce.
The collective ownership nature of the supply and marketing cooperatives was adjusted to ownership by the whole people. This was the first national joint commercial merger.
In August 1961, the Yunnan Provincial Supply and Marketing Cooperative was reestablished after being separated from the Provincial Department of Commerce, and the nature of collective ownership was restored.
With the expansion of business, the Provincial Supply and Marketing Cooperative Marketing Management Department has established management departments for agricultural supplies, local products, non-staple food, waste products, cash crops, and daily miscellaneous products.
In August 1968, the business of the Provincial Supply and Marketing Cooperative was transferred to the leadership and management of the Finance and Trade Group of the Production Command Group of the Provincial Revolutionary Committee. From January 1971 to August 1975, the work of the Provincial Supply and Marketing Cooperative was transferred to the Provincial Commerce Bureau, and the company affiliated to the Provincial Supply and Marketing Cooperative (manager
Ministry) is managed by the Provincial Bureau of Commerce.
This is the second Guohe Commercial merger.
The collective ownership nature of supply and marketing cooperatives was once again adjusted to ownership by the whole people.
In August 1975, the Provincial Supply and Marketing Cooperative was reestablished, and the original companies were also placed under the management of the Provincial Supply and Marketing Cooperative, but the nature of ownership was unclear.
From June 1983 to August 1986, following the practice of the State Council, the Provincial Supply and Marketing Cooperatives merged with the Provincial Department of Commerce and the Provincial Food Department to form the Provincial Department of Commerce. The professional companies affiliated to the Provincial Supply and Marketing Cooperatives were not merged. This was the third national joint commercial
merge.
In August 1986, the Provincial Supply and Marketing Cooperative was separated from the Provincial Department of Commerce and reestablished.
In November 1988, with the approval of the Provincial People's Government, the Yunnan Provincial Federation of Supply and Marketing Cooperatives was established. In March 1989, the third member congress of the province was held. According to the regulations of the society, the first social affairs committee of the third session was elected.

Yunnan Provincial Federation of Supply and Marketing Cooperatives has been officially established to this day.
In August 1951, according to the Provincial Government's "Instructions on Focused Rural Cooperative Work", various regions, prefectures, and cities successively established cooperation departments to be responsible for the organization and preparation of cooperatives in their regions.
In August 1952, after the establishment of the Provincial Federation of Cooperatives Preparatory Committee, the cooperation departments of various regions (specialties), states, and cities were changed into cooperation offices, which were dispatched agencies of the Provincial Federation of Cooperatives and did not establish direct business agencies.
After 1956, with the expansion of purchasing and selling business, local (specialized), state, and municipal cooperation offices gradually established directly affiliated business agencies such as agricultural product purchasing and industrial product supply management departments.
From August 1958 to July 1961, each regional cooperation office was merged into the regional commerce bureau, and the original business operating agencies were retained under the management of the commerce bureau.
In August 1961, after the provincial supply and marketing cooperative was reestablished, cooperation offices were reestablished in all regions (except for border minority areas).
During the Cultural Revolution, cooperative offices at various local, state and municipal levels were basically retained.
After the provincial supply and marketing cooperative was reestablished in July 1975, the cooperative offices at various local, state and municipal levels were changed into supply and marketing cooperatives, and the affiliated business management departments were also changed into professional companies.
In June 1983, after the Provincial Supply and Marketing Cooperative merged with the Provincial Department of Commerce and the Provincial Grain Department to form the Department of Commerce, some prefectures, states, and cities merged and established new commerce bureaus, and soon after they were established separately.
After March 1989, supply and marketing cooperatives in various regions, states, and cities have successively established federated cooperatives to this day.
