1982, 1 1, the International Sports Coordinating Committee for the Disabled (ICC) was established, which was originally composed of the International Sports and Recreation Association for Cerebral Palsy (CP-ISOD), the International Sports Association for the Blind (IBSA), the International Stoke mandeville Wheelchair Federation (ISMGF) and the International Sports Organization for the Disabled (ISMWSF).

1986 added the International Sports Committee for the Deaf (CISS) and the International Sports Association for the Mentally Handicapped (INAS-FMH). This is a loose agreement organization, and the heads of six participating organizations take turns to serve as chairmen, with a rotation period of six months.

With the active support of the International Disabled Sports Foundation (IFSD), the above six organizations established the International Paralympic Committee on 1989.

Tasks of the IPC:
