The city has 90,000 farmers, more than 2,000 brokers and more than a hundred companies engaged in strawberry production, processing and trade. It exports nearly 40,000 tons of strawberry products annually and earns more than 35 million US dollars in foreign exchange from exports.

Donggang City’s strawberry production adopts a parallel development model of three cultivation methods: solar greenhouse, large arched shed in early spring, and open field. Donggang City has more than a dozen strawberry production varieties, the most in the country. It is an advanced area for the introduction and cultivation of new varieties in my country. The average strawberry yield per mu in the solar greenhouse is 3,000-3,500 kilograms, and the output value per mu is 50,000-80,000 yuan. In early spring, the average strawberry yield per mu in large greenhouses is 2,500-3,000 kilograms, and the output value per mu is 25,000-35,000 yuan. The open field varieties are mainly American Honey, with an average yield per mu of about 1,500-2,000kg and an output value of 3,000-4,000 yuan per mu. 10% of the city's solar greenhouse strawberries are sold as local fresh fruit, and 90% are packaged and exported to the three northeastern provinces and large and medium-sized cities in Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Inner Mongolia, Hebei, Tianjin and other places; 10% of the strawberries in the large greenhouses in early spring are sold as local fresh fruits. Donggang City is the largest strawberry seedling breeding base in the country. In addition to meeting local strawberry production needs, high-quality seedlings are also exported to all parts of the country, including Xinjiang and Tibet.
