If the perpetrator threatens others with a murder weapon, and the circumstances are bad and disturb social order, it constitutes a crime of stirring up trouble and is sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment of not more than five years, criminal detention or public surveillance. Those who repeatedly gather people to intimidate and seriously disturb social order shall be sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment of not less than five years but not more than 10 years and may also be fined. Those who do not meet the above conditions do not constitute a crime and will not be sentenced. Specifically, it shall be detained for less than five days or fined less than five hundred yuan.

Article 226 of the Criminal Law of People's Republic of China (PRC) commits one of the following acts by violence or threat.
