Factory overview
As mentioned at the beginning, Tianjin factory is the latest vehicle factory of FAW-Volkswagen Group. Construction started in July, 20 16, and the first SOP was put into production in June, 20 18 (meeting the requirements of mass production), indicating that the vehicle production capacity has been achieved. The whole process took 23 months, and the construction speed in the main engine factory was very fast.
There is a vehicle logistics park (parking lot) on the west side of the main engine plant, which can accommodate tens of thousands of vehicles. FAW-Volkswagen's logistics vehicles take this as a starting point to send cars to 4S stores all over the country and even around the world.
It is indeed a first-class automobile factory.
For any brand, manufacturing a car is nothing more than four major processes: stamping, welding, painting and final assembly. We briefly visited four workshops.
The tightening system in the assembly workshop will even upload every work data to the German Volkswagen database and keep it for ten years, so that problems can be traced back at any time.
The welding workshop will complete the production of 65 frames per hour, and the circulation efficiency of parts is very high. However, due to the scale effect of high-output support, Volkswagen can set the buffer time of punching and welding. In a day or two, the stamped parts will stand still on these supports and "precipitate themselves", and the residual washing liquid will naturally drip dry during the stamping process to prevent it from affecting the painting process.
These equipments are dispensable, but the details will affect the quality of the vehicle to a certain extent. Car companies are willing to buy only when the scale reaches a certain level or they have great confidence in a model. Only a small part of our car purchase money is those iron materials, and a considerable part is actually sharing the cost of these production lines.
Small details of the painting workshop
The difficulty is that the robot may bump into the frame as long as the action error exceeds 1mm, which requires high accuracy. On the one hand, transparent PVC glue is antiseptic; On the other hand, after melting at high temperature, PVC will penetrate into the gap and fill the gap in the cavity to prevent the vibration of the cavity sheet metal parts during driving and affect the NVH of the vehicle.
Another "cavity wax filling" technology is unique to German cars. Its principle is to make liquid wax solidify on the inner surface of the car body to form a protective layer of 0.5- 1mm, which can also play a role in rust prevention when the car encounters wading and other situations. But it's a pity that we couldn't visit this process.
Odor laboratory and comprehensive measuring room
Starting from the four processes, we also visited the odor laboratory of FAW-Volkswagen Tianjin factory and two workshops under the quality inspection department of the comprehensive metering room. The odor laboratory is responsible for detecting harmful and harmless odors. There is an industry knowledge that there may be harmful gases such as formaldehyde in the car, but it may also be harmless; Accordingly, there is no smell in the car, which is not necessarily safe, and there may be harmful gases.
In the road test stage, every car has to be tested by the odor laboratory, while in the production stage, it takes the form of sampling testing, and several cars will be selected for testing in each production cycle.
FAW-Volkswagen Tianjin Factory has one of the only two comprehensive measuring rooms of FAW-Volkswagen, and the two comprehensive measuring workshops cost about 654.38 billion yuan.
The other set is a metal detection tool, imported from Germany, which can simulate a perfect car body, measure the welded frame and detect surface differences and cracks. On the one hand, the gap refers to the absolute value of the gap width at the joint, on the other hand, whether the gap is uniform is also a place to consider.
