What is the examination procedure for Danish trademarks?

Before submitting the application, the applicant should conduct a mark search to avoid that the applied mark is identical or similar to an earlier trademark in the same or similar goods or service categories.

Danish trademark applications can be submitted through the online system. The trademark application documents are submitted to the Danish Patent and Trademark Office. After the applicant submits the trademark registration application, the Danish Patent and Trademark Office will review whether the application meets the requirements for determining the filing date. Whether a trademark registration request has been submitted, whether the information and address of the applicant or unit, a copy of the logo, and a list of goods and/or services have been provided.

If the Danish Patent and Trademark Office believes that the trademark registration application should be rejected in whole or in part, it will issue an examination opinion to the applicant, requiring the applicant to respond and make modifications and corrections within the specified period, and submit a Request for review. The trademark documents that pass the review will enter the trademark announcement period, and the trademark registration application will be made public. Within 2 months after the trademark registration application is made public, anyone can file a trademark objection with the Danish Patent and Trademark Office and make an objection ruling with the trademark applicant.

The Danish Patent and Trademark Office will register and publish a trademark document that has been subject to an opposition ruling or has no objection during the announcement period and meets all requirements of the Trademark Law.
