Different situations have different methods, but in the final analysis, there are two major steps: 1. Cut out a translucent wedding dress. 2. Use the mask to dig out the opaque parts of the characters, such as hair. Once the images extracted in the two steps overlap, a complete character is obtained.

Because the second step is relatively simple, I think you should know, so I only said the first step is how to dig out the translucent wedding dress.

(1) If the background other than characters is monochrome (if black is not black, select and fill black).

Method 1. Use a mixed ribbon. Copy the background-open the layer style dialog box, select the current layer, move the black slider to the right, and observe the image-when the black in the background and the black in the translucent wedding dress disappear, the opaque parts that should not disappear can be restored by masking.

Method two. Open the image, select All-Copy-Open the channel palette, create a new alpha channel, paste-select the image, return to the layer palette, load the selection of the alpha channel, and establish the layer mask. In this way, the translucent wedding dress was pulled out.

(2) If the background other than characters is not monochrome, use the channel matting method:

1. Open the channel palette and select a color channel with large contrast between people and background.

2. Choose a brush, set the foreground color to white, and paint the opaque part of the wedding dress as pure white.

3. Turn down the opacity of the brush and paint the translucent part of the wedding dress gray (as for how gray it is, try it a few times yourself, because the opacity of wedding dresses is different at different gray levels)

4. Paint other parts of the character, such as hair and arms, pure white.

5. Return to the layer conversion, load the selection, and create the layer mask.

6. Modify the mask and continue to retouch the image.

(3) If the whole image is white, so that the outline of the wedding dress cannot be seen,

Open the color code-move the slider until the outline of the wedding dress appears-draw the outline with pen and ink-select the background of the wedding dress and fill it with black. The following steps are the same as above.

There are many other methods, just a few commonly used ones.
