Leshan Qianwei has a long history of planting ginger, which has a history of 1700 years. Leshan Qianwei white ginger is unique in quality, large and full, with more starch, less fiber and strong spicy taste. The dried ginger produced is of high quality. The medicine is stable. It has been the authentic origin of medicinal dried ginger since ancient times. Before liberation, Japan and Germany bought dried ginger in Qianwei Village and exported it to more than ten countries and regions in Europe and Asia after liberation. Qianwei White Ginger, commonly known as "Liu Ma" ginger, has its production base in Liu Ma Village, Zhagu Township, Qianwei County. After years of exploration and production practice, the association has formed the Technical Specification for High-yield Cultivation of Qianwei White (Dry) Ginger and the Technical Specification for High-yield Cultivation of Honeycomb Softened Ginger. The vegetable willow planted by this technology is slender and branched, and looks like a "finger" (generally, the stem is 1.5 cm thick and 15-20 cm long). Its stem skin is white, the stem tip is purple, the fiber is less, the taste is crisp and tender, the edible rate is high, and it has high edible and medicinal value. Its trademark "Liu Ma" won the title of "Famous Trademark of Leshan City" twice in a row, and its products successively won the titles of Ministry of Agriculture and National Pollution-free Agricultural Products, Sichuan China Western Agricultural Expo "Famous Agricultural Products", Sichuan famous agricultural products brand and China "Geographical Indications of Agricultural Products".
Ginger Association of Zhagu Township, Qianwei County was established in 1998. After nearly ten years of development, the number of members has reached 3,350, driving 8,500 farmers. It is estimated that the output value will reach 79.3 million yuan this year. In 2003, the Association was awarded the title of "Top 100 Agricultural Technology Associations in Sichuan Province" and "Top 30 Rural Professional Technology Associations in Leshan City" in 2004. In 2004, the project "Research and Application of Honeycomb Softening Ginger Cultivation Technology" won the "Second Prize of Leshan Science and Technology Progress" by Leshan People. Its registered brand "Maliujiang" won the "Famous Agricultural Products" of China Western Agricultural Expo in Sichuan in 2002, the "Double Certification" of pollution-free agricultural products and pollution-free agricultural products bases of the Ministry of Agriculture in 2005, the "Famous Trademark of Leshan City" in 2006, the "Famous Agricultural Products of Sichuan Province" in 2007 and the "National Advanced Unit for Promoting Agriculture through Science" in 2009.
The geographical indications of agricultural products in Qianwei Maliujiang include 7 townships and 90 administrative villages, including Zhagu Township, Tielu Township, Jiujing Township, Xinmin Town, Xiaogu Town, Longkong Town and Daxing Township. Qianwei County borders Muchuan County of Leshan City, and is adjacent to Zigong City and Yibin City. The main producing area of Qianwei Maliujiang is located in the southeast of the county, covering an area of 450 square kilometers. Its geographical coordinates are 103 59'- 104 07' east and 29 03'-29 1 1' north. Qianwei Liujiang has a protected area of 3,500 hectares, with an annual output of fresh ginger 1 1 10,000 tons.
