China Youshi University (Beijing) is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education with distinctive petroleum characteristics, industry-oriented and multi-disciplinary coordinated development, and one of the universities with graduate schools.

1997, the school entered the national "2 1 1 project" to build universities. In 2006, it became a national "innovation platform for superior disciplines" project to build colleges and universities. The school was founded by Tsinghua University Petroleum Department, 1953, and gathered some teachers from Tianjin University, Peking University and other universities.

1960 was identified as a national key university. 1988 was renamed "Petroleum University". In 2005, it was renamed "China Youshi University". Headquartered in Beijing, the school is affiliated to Youshi University in China (Beijing) and Youshi University in China (East China).

In August, 20 18, the National Natural Science Foundation of China issued the Notice on Announcing the Evaluation Results of Projects Applied by the National Natural Science Foundation of China in 20 18, and 97 projects of China Youshi University (Beijing) were funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China in 20 18.
